Charles Spurgeon Quote: Zeal

When I read this quote it made me think of yesterday when I was taking a walk and listening to a song by Mercy Me, I got goose bumps on a 70 degree day when the song sang Hallelujah over and over and I was watching an older man sit on a bench with his cane beside him and I was praying for him and his life and I remember looking at the sky the moment those words sang over and over in my earbuds and thinking “Thank you God that I know you, and that I have been blessed to walk with you” I really felt him walking beside me and I was saying to myself “I feel you walking with me” I’m so so glad and filled with so much love that I have God in my life and that I have something to look forward to after death, so I looked at the old man thinking you know he may be close to death but then again so could I and thinking that I wish everyone could know God and that way not have to worry about perishing b/c they are going to a better place. I was so filled with joy, sadness, love, fear, laughter all at once that this quote makes perfect sense to me… “If you never have sleepless hours, if you never have weeping eyes, if your hearts never swell as if they would burst, you need not anticipate that you will be called zealous. You do not know the beginning of true zeal, for the foundation of Christian zeal lies in the heart. The heart must be heavy with grief and yet must beat high with holy ardor. The heart must be vehement in desire, panting continually for God’s glory, or else we shall never attain to anything like the zeal which God would have us know.” CHARLES SPURGEON I have moments where I feel my heart would burst for love with someone and sometimes it is a complete stranger that has a deformity, a handicap, that are grief stricken, or suffering, or lonely that I just want to hold them and I pray for them that things might change for the better. I do hate to see people sad or hurting and I try my best to partake in someones joy or happiness, meaning I like to and I enjoy very much being happy for someone when things go good, I don’t know of many occasions where I am not truthfully happy and excited for a person…but as you know jealousy gets the best of the best of us but I really think I do feel genuinely happy for people when God blesses them with good things
